There's a question I hear surprisingly often when we're out at markets introducing people to all the fun things at The Ink Bar Company:
"What do you do with washi tape?"
You'd think I'd have a perfectly rehearsed answer by now. After all, I'm the one selling the stuff!
But for some reason, I always find myself stumbling through a list of possibilities."Well, you can use it in journals, planners, scrapbooks... you know, sticking things to other things!"
Incredibly convincing sales pitch, right?
So I decided to put my washi tape where my mouth is.
Armed with a notebook, a collection of colorful tapes, some stickers, and absolutely no formal qualifications in the art of decorative journaling, I set out to create a few examples of what you can actually do with these little rolls of happiness.
I experimented with diary and planner pages, a recipe, a coffee tracker, and even a gloriously over-the-top list. Some were practical. Others were purely for fun. And that was kind of the point.

There's no right way to use washi tape.
It's a little color, a little personality, and an invitation to make an ordinary page something uniquely yours.
And Then There's Ryan...
While working on this project, I turned to my husband and business partner with what seemed like a perfectly reasonable question.
"What do you do with washi tape?"
His answer was shocking.
He doesn't.
Not one little strip. Not a single decorative border. Nothing.
Naturally, I followed up with another question.
"Well, how do you use stickers?"
Dear reader, I dare not repeat his response.
Clearly, drastic measures were necessary.
I handed him some Colorverse stickers and issued a creative challenge: Make a list of movies inspired by these stickers.
And to his credit, he accepted!

Because here's the thing: you don't have to be a scrapbooker, an artist, or someone with an elaborate planner to have a little fun putting ink (and stickers!) to paper.
Sometimes all you need is a blank page, a little inspiration, and someone who won't take "I don't use stickers" for an answer.
Your Turn!
Whether you're decorating your favorite recipe, keeping track of your coffee adventures, planning your week, or making a ridiculous list of movies, washi tape is simply another way to make your pages your own.
And if you're still wondering what to do with it, come see us at an upcoming market. We'll happily show you a few ideas.
